Giant Reign - any views?

In conjunction with my other post about buying a bike on the internet, this is a comparison my local bike shop has available.

Frame – Reign 1
Fork - Rockshox Pike
Shock - Manitou 3.1
Brakes - Avid Juicy Five
R mech – SRAM X-0
Levers – SRAM X-9
F mech - XT
Crankset – Raceface Deus
Rims – Mavic X117

Can’t remember any of the other spec. This lot comes in at AU$4000, which is about GBP1650, and is about how much a Blur LT from the States would be.

This bike is in a shop 10mins walk from my house, I’m quite tempted but have never ridden a Reign in anger, and I’d appreciate any views from those that have. But the Blur is a bike I’ve thrashed on a good test ride, and really liked. A lot.

Not ridden one but the Reign seems to get very good write-ups both in the mags and on the forums as a good all round trail bike that can take a hit or two but still suitable for getting up the hills easonably easily, so certainly worthy of consideration. Can your LBS not get a demo bike in to try?

Also not ridden but heard good stuff about the Reign. Sounds like a reasonable spec too

A friend who works for a Giant dealer reckons on being able to get me a 2007 Reign 0 for equivalent to GBP1600. As I've just suffered a knockback in trying to get a new Yeti, I'm very tempted to take him up on this - and obviously tap him up for a good test ride beforehand.
