I was out huffing and puffing up a steep hill on my bike today when I saw a fellow approaching on what seemed to look like a strange-looking recumbent. As he got closer, I saw that he was using his arms instead of his legs to power it! In fact, he had no legs. I cannot imagine having the power, even with gears, to go up that hill using your arms to push yourself and a bike that had to be heavier than mine. Wow! And yes, his arm muscles were HUGE.

I did some searching when I got home, and found what he was riding.

Also found two other arm-powered bike manufacturer sites. This one seems like it would interfere with the steering, doesn't give much of a workout, and the bars would also interfere with the legs as you tried to pedal!

And, this one, which does not seem to have gearing:

It looks like an excellent upper body workout and I am tempted to get one, but I simply do not have the space, and I think 4 bikes in a garage is enough (5 if you count the folding one which my wife got and keeps in her boot).
