Just a heads up.

MBUK is out today (supposed to be out tomorrow but Tesco had it) with a free dvd of Flow... probably an ok dvd but more importantly it comes with a free copy of DIRT... one of the original mountain bike videos. Jason McRoy etc.

Well worth the few quid for the mag just to get Dirt.

Dirt was a spectacularly bad video, even in it's day but JMC shone like a beacon from it. Even if you watch it today, over 10 years later, he still looks cool (apart from the lycra all in one bit) and his riding is good.

Such a waste of a huge talent

Put the DVD on tonight and it really is crap. Doesn't stand the test of time at all.

They've changed all the music too which ruins some of the memories.

Ah well

I can't disagree there. The bit about Rennie and his jump was pretty decent too

Yes, and slightly embarrassingly, I’ve still got this poster up in a corner from years ago boxedin hehe

I only really buy MBUK a few times a year now, usually when it has some freebie on it (tyre levers and chainstay guard - very good thumbup ) Is the other thing on the dvd with Dirt any good?

Yeah. The sections we've discussed earlier in this thread (Red Bull Gold Mine etc) are all part of the DVD. Very cool for a freebie

also on the free dirt dvd, has anybody found the hidden 24 seven video? on the main screen, press down through the 3 visible options ( Play, scene selection, extras), then press down again, and a green circle appears in the word "Flow" at the bottom of the screen, press enter, its a cool video of about 5 mins showing the 24 seven dirt jump team!

my heros as a young lad were John Tomac and Tinker Juarez, used to religiously buy MBUK from Menzies, infact i was reading the latest issue at the time in there or might of been WH Smiths, when my pride and joy Dynatech was half'inched by some scallys, you try running after your P&J in Look shoes....

when you read the mag it explained that on the master copy of the Dirt vid - the sound was too bad hence the new music, but it just doest go - looses so much of the origonal feel of the vid.

personally, i wore out my first copy of Dirt, was grateful when it came free with the mag a few years later, along with the second vid Getta Grip.

and i ended up getting a couple of the albums that provide the sound track - Fallen Angels and Play Dead.

Jo Burt posts on Singletrack - did meet him, apparently, when my missus went to a ladies day at chicksands, near bedford, that was organised by the local MTB club - had Tracy Mossley and Helen Mortimer as instructors for the day - Jo's missus was there as well, and i got talking to a bloke while stopped at top of the hill overlooking the northshore structure where all the ladies where attempting to ride along a short section.

only reason i know i was talking to Jo was his missus was talking to mine, and they where pointing out their other halfs... i hadnt a clue, nor did he let on (especially as i was wearing a mint sauce riding jersey!)
