What would your bike be if it were a car?
Discussion
Posting up the pics of my bike I was thinking about what my bike would be comparable to - seeing as my Trek Y22 is from 1996 - a veritable lightwieght but very classic bike, I was wondering what it would be if it were a car.
So with no shame in using this as another chance to post a picture of my bike(s) again, I give you this thread:
Pic of your bike against a pic of the car you think would closet 'match' from age, ability, weight, price etc
I'll go first:
Trek Y22 1996 vintage (£2000 retail, sub 25lb weight), considered way ahead of its time, cheap, and very very fast. Also mind numbingly sexy
Jaguar E-Type, Mind numbingly sexy, cheap, and very very fast Still very fresh, yet vintage lines...

I was actually wondering this to try and explain to my non biking friends, just how my bike "ranked" in the bike world by comparing it to a car.
Bike: Maverick ML7.5 estimated less than 30 sold in the UK, unique suspension design that does not bob but absorbs the bumps (good on and off the road), beautifully crafted but functional frame, 125mm of suspension travel and 26lbs weight. Bike cost (with XT) £3.4K
Car: World rally Car (or do you have any better suggestions)

My current two:
Tomac 204 Magnum. A BEAST of a bike. Probably over 50lbs in weight. 9inches of rear travel, 7 at the front. It rules the trails, other bikes jump for cover. Very menacing. Yet at the same time so comfortable to ride fast, damn sexy to look at and lovely finishing. expensive (£2800 for the frame!)
The Rolls Royce Phantom. Big beasty but very comfy and fast. expensive.
Rocky Mountain Switch. A complete all-rounder. Good at XC, DH, freeriding, street. Anything and everything, it does it well.
Has to be the 996TT. Does everything sooo well and effortlessly.

Very hard to get this absolutely right.
I'm very happy with my bike, and whilst appreciating that it isn't the top spec unit available today, still think it performs well against stiff competition. Can't see me needing to change it for a while as it's great fun.
Here's my bike,
and here's it's four wheeled equivilent (IMO - even if my bike can't claim the same retro cool factor)

My folder went and died last week, so the trabant has been replaced by my 5 year old full suspension mtb for the daily commute.
Figure its a little like an old (tuned) V8 engined Land Rover. Doesn't look like anything, but goes pretty well ... it was nice this morning to be finally be the one doing the passing of all the cyclists whilst going through London.
