In my younger years I’ve always enjoyed mountain biking and currently ride a Rocky Mountain Blizzard but as I began to approach middle aged other interests took over and my fitness has dropped right off.

To try and get back in the saddle more I’m rebuilding my old mid-90’s Raleigh MTB as a road bike for the winter. It’s a bike I’ve always loved, the geometry fits and it’s light.

Where I live we’ve got loads of quiet back roads that are mainly used only by walkers, horses and tractors so I’ve began looking at tyres for the bike. The nature of the roads means there’s often a lot of debris and mud so I’m steering away from anything too slick and thinking that maybe a treaded or cyclocross tyre would be better suited to the conditions.

As it’s an old school MTB the wheels are 26” so wondering what slightly treaded tyres you’d suggest in I’m guessing around 1.5-1.75” wide.

I have Schwalbe Land Cruisers on mine ( under £30 a pair). You could also consider Schwalbe Marathons.

Thanks, I’d had the Marathons on my watch list but the Land Cruiser looks like it could be a much better option.

Looks like a bit of a bargain. Tubes included as well.
