Just about to head down and along to the Borders, maybe Kelso, maybe Melrose seeing as its "this side" of the borders for me, see how the road closures are.

16 degrees and no rain and little cloud, practically a heatwave for this part of the world. Ideal for alfresco coffee, lunch and maybe a even a (bevvy-free) pint.

Looking forward to it beer

The route looks almost as bland as last year’s. Can’t see it making for exciting racing sadly.

Misses my neck of the woods this year, so won't be catching it. Shame as it's a strong field this year, and I've got a couple of good pals riding it.

It goes right past my front door on Saturday. Sadly the Northampton Saints game will be in full flow at that point so I will have to watch via my ring doorbell

The final stage starts about half a mile from where I work and the route takes them about half a mile from where I live, passing the jump park where I'm a member, and ends in the town that I grew up in.

Unfortunately, I'm working a day shift on Sunday 8th September so will miss all of it!!

I've enjoyed the stages so far, in the ITV4 highlights at 8pm.

I do miss the displays per the Tour de France coverage showing where the race leader is and the pursuing groups. The speeds they are riding at is always interesting too.

Off topic, in the Olympic road race did you realise that Evenepoel did nearly 30mph, on average including stopping for a bike change, for 25 miles on his own after riding well over 100 miles? Wow...

He’s the worlds fastest solo rider smile

Dull TOB this year, it staggers me that with the terrain we have in the UK, which is fairly unlike much of the calendar (Lake District?!?) we have these mostly flat stages between one sthole and another for a whole week.

Money. Local town councils bid for starts/finishes/sprints and even just to appear on the route. There's your driver, not finding the best route.

The Tour of Yorkshire was always a selection of cracking routes.
