It's a 2 hour drive, is it worth it? The last time I rode there was provably 10yrs back and my memory of it was to get the best I had to take short cuts between two tracks to get the best out of it.

I've done Marin (it's not really for me). I'm not a fan of Llandegla. I'll be honest you'd have to pay me to go there.

I like flow, rocky and variety.

I like it. I spent a few days there a couple of months ago. I really like Llandegla though which personally I'd say is pretty flowy.

Coed-Y-Brenin has loads of different trails but some of them are super rocky and jaggery. I'd call them the opposite of flow. In fact, I bought a damper upgrade after the last trip because my arms got such a beating.

In the area, the bottom trail at Gwydir Mawr is a lot of fun. *Edit* You've already done Marin and don't like it. Probably ignore my advice.

I'd recommend Pen Machno if you want a mixed bag.

Llandegla is awful, never ending climbs where you never really seem to go down anything interesting.

Coed y Brenin is good, but Nant yr Arian is way better. Much more flowy trails, and some of the most beautiful scenery with Red Kites flying around, bliss.

(I know nothing about mountain biking.)

What do people think of the Bike Park at Llangynog?

Is it more like a skate park, whereas you guys are talking about trails, or is it the same sort of thing?

I like Penmachno (like the Marin trail as well) but I wouldn't go there at the moment, we've had a lot of rain recently and massive down pours forecast tomorrow.

I went to Penmachno during the heat wave a couple of years ago, we didn't have any rain for months (the Marin trail was dusty and bone dry) but there were still puddles in Penmachno!

I like CyB, it's a longer drive for me, so I usually only go once a year on a BH.

Tarw Du isn't to my taste, the slabs are cool, but the rest of it is a slog, little flow, maybe if you got to know it, but it's a lot of rock garden climbs with occasional fire road descents, nah.

Cyflym Coch is a banger, it's pretty short at 11km.

MBR and Dragons Back are good too.

I think last time we rode Tarw Du for the sake of the slabs, MBR and then Cyflym Coch (ebikes).

Llandelga used to be better, it's constantly being improved, but somehow made more vanilla.

I've done Degla for 20 years on and off and I have to agree you seem to climb for ages for little reward in terms of downhills, the downhill sections are good though but it does feel like you do more climbing that coming downhill.

I moved a few years ago so Degla went from an hour in the car to nearly 90 mins I haven't been for a good year or so and I know they have created some new trails though.

I do like CYB but again it's well over 2 hours for me now and I just don't think it's worth the drive for a few hours on a bike, Marin/Penmancho are more natural and less/zero facilities but it's good to mix it up.

Llandegla is fun, had been going for 15 years or so, but, I stopped going due to the amount of e-bikes racing around there aggressively tailgating and pushing you on, it gets tiresome which is a shame as I enjoyed going there.

I use to shock a few people on the climbs on my single-speed mountain bike biggrin

Not been CodeyBrenin for years now, probably changed abit since I last went.

Lyn Brenig lake is good for a good quiet morning ride, good routes Red/Blue around the national park, good visitor centre too.

I like CyB, although I have only been twice. And one of those got cut short as my mate broke his jaw. It is just that little bit too far to do in a day from the Midlands, otherwise I would go more.

I like the idea of riding at Llandegla, the trails are usually in decent condition and the cafe is great, but when I get there I remember that it is mostly climbing even after the long initial climb.

Revolution bike park is more of a downhill/jumps sort of place, like Bike Park Wales, it is well regarded. It closed for a while due to tree disease, but has recently reopened on a smaller scale. CyB/Llandegla are tamer cross country loops.
