Hi all,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, difficult to know how to judge it :-)

Im after a Engwe Pro 2.0 - 52v / 1200w e bike. Interested to hear any owners opinions on these. Also, be interested to know where you brought it from.

Ive read various owner's views across the internet and am not clear if any bikes brought are reduced to 250w / no throttle perminately, or if these restrictions can be removed.

I’d say this is a question for our lycra clothed friends in the PH Cycling forum rather than the motorcycle one.

Never heard of one but on some googling all i can say is that it ain't a looker.

At 40kg i would assume that even though it is a folding bike; it will be difficult to manoeuvre in and out of wherever.

Not really fussed about about how it looks, plus I only plan to use it for local commuting i.e. to Costa and back, and along the beach where I live.

Obviously it isn't road-legal if you are in the UK...

Really do think this should be in the leather clad Power Rangers forum. It’s not a bicycle.

At 1200W it’s a motorcycle in the UK and needs plates, helmet, tax insurance, CBT, MOT etc.

250w assist is the max for a whar they call a pedelec, which has the same rules as a bicycle.

Obviously none of this applies for the Uber Eats and Deliveroo mob…..

Are you working for Deliveroo then? smile

They are quite fast, popular with the delivery riders; the only problem being the riders being pricks. Otherwise they are everywhere around here in Brighton, so I take it they are good enough

Spot on and the op is in the UK so this not is not classed as a cycle

Im near Brighton myself. 45 mins on a pedal cycle along the seafront / 30m on an Engwe lol. I often do Bikes, Beers and Brighton.

Thanks for all the comments above, I dont get the sense anyone actually owns one but your thoughts / opinions have been noted :-)

Im currently in email chats with Engwe Uk for a Engwe pro 2.0 with torque sensor. I reckon they are up for a deal. They seem to send out so many free examples to YT channels, so lets see what deal I can get.

Not legal to use in the UK (except on private land with the landowners permission) but you're still considering buying one?

confused

yes I am. Engwe do other models that look like motorbikes so the Pro 2.0 does look the most `cycle` like.

I see it as a way of getting me out more, more fitness. I plan to use the pedal assist and I cant see myself going crazy at 29mph but like the idea of more torque and power as Im a lump of a human :-)

What I find stange is that buying from the engwe website is more expensive than using other suppliers. Strange. You would of thought the Engwe would be the cheapest / best route but it isnt. Plus their site mentions $1250 for a pro 2.0 then click on the bike and its then £1450.

Environmental bikes seem to be the cheapest so far. I have noticed a few 2nd hand ones but these all look to be delivery drivers knock abouts so god knows on battery life.

So yes I will, but Im still looking around considering my options.

It's full of them in Brighton, the police won't give them a second look.

There may be a crack down I guess at some point, but for now, they are everywhere

Oh, nice, we can definitely agree on a Bike/Beer/Brighton day!

They seem to be the workhorse of all the riders here, kind of like a Ford Transit! So not being cheap, my gut feeling is that it is quite dependable, hence they prefer it.

Where did you bring it from?

...or perhaps you meant you bought one? Completely different context!

Apologies, I wrote brought instead of bought. Thank the lord for those internet warriors who quickly pick up on that. Lucky you did as no one would of been able to work out what I was discussing or what the subject matter was.

You have saved the day. I owe you.

Just to close this thread.

Recievd my engwe pro 2.0 yesterday. Took me an hour to build it. Then to config it.

Wow, what a bike. Im so impressed. Just been up to my local Costas on it. Makes riding fun. I let my friends have a go and all of them are so impressed too. I found myself taking the long way home just to enjoy the ride.

Its a quality bike. Bigger than you think. Solid. Quite heavy so doubt I will ever fold it but I know I can if needs be. It will certianly fit in my ML mercedes.

The torque on it is amazing, the harder you pedal the more torque, unlike the cadance sensor version on the older engwe pro 2. Ive just bought a helmet as I will be a d1ck if I dont wear one.

Absolutely amazing. Well pleased . For £1250 it seems tremendous value and Ive already been out riding it far more than I ever did with my normal pedal bike.
