It's a great story. That HUUB-Wattbike team really made some of the national federations look pretty daft, and Bigham will happily admit that they weren't all at the physical level of the other riders, it was science that won it. He came and rode one of our club evening hilly time trials that I was timekeeping for, back when he lived in Oxford, and I think he still has the course record.

Arguably this all should have happened much sooner than it did but BC being precious about it not being one of their own track talents I suspect.

He proved ages ago that he had the technical nous (as it isn’t the watts, he did nearly 50w less than me in a national ten a few years back!) and then continued to prove it by making every world tour team he touched go really fast in time trials.

In the small world of cycling his is a story of brains and moderate talent vs another rider I also saw first hand many times in Hayter who has huge natural talent and just needs to be pointed in the right direction. I remember the nationals not that long ago where it seemed Dan probably had prepared endlessly only to get battered by Ethan who probably didn’t give it all that much thought. But that’s world tour level for you I guess.
