I paid over £3000 for my Cube Kathmandu a few weeks ago. This morning the display’s dead and the remote’s not controlling anything.

OK the app says ‘software error’ but when I tap for the solution all I get is ‘contact your e-bike dealer’. Great but they’re closed, it’s Sunday!!!

Why can’t they just post the instructions to fix it???

At a rough guess, its probably because the instructions start with "on the dealer PC, open the Cube dealer software, then plug the bike in".

Have you tried turning it off and on again? biggrin

Delete your app and re-download it to your phone and login, it’s worth a try. I had to do that this morning with a new phone where it doesn’t automatically pair when you switch handsets.

Yes I’ve tried rebooting but it still says software error. I could try deleting everything and starting again or calling the dealer in the morning.

Bloody frustrating as we were all set to go out cycling for the day.

WTF can't Cube ship the bike with working software? It cannot be that complex and the only reason for this failure is poor quality / inadequate testing.

this is why i'll never, ever, update the software on my ebike (shimano) even though the app tells me the display, battery, controller, and motor all need updates.

Took the bike back to the dealership this morning. It was the display which needed replacing, also got a software update. All working now but our Sunday ride was f****d up.

I wonder what that would have cost if the unit failed outside of the warranty period?

Christ, makes me want to stay away from an ebike! Glad it's sorted. Hope it behaves itself now!

One for Internet of st, I reckon!

(I suggest Googling it, as PH's censorship software mangles the URL. rofl)

I've had two cube ebikes (Bosch motors) and both were bomb proof. From memory, the display has its own cr3032 button cell type battery. It could be as simple as yours had a flat battery. Even if the main battery on the bike is charged, if the display is flat, it won't power up.

Sorted?
Yes thanks.

There’s a minor irritation with the app still thinking there’s a software problem but it’s all working fine.

F**K, F**K, F**K!!!

Now the bikes broken. I was happily riding when I got that familiar event when the pedals stop turning and you know the chains come off. Irritating but hey that happens and easy enough to put back. No, not this time. The cassette is at the back but the chain was off at the front and wedged into what I assume is part of the motor. It looks like it’s now also wedged under a metal clip which holds the plastic cover in place.

I’ll take it back again to the dealership tomorrow but this is a bike that cost over £3000 last month and has covered just 116 miles!!!
