Have a look at the Maps.me app. We downloaded it to follow a route done by the place where we hired some bikes. The guy set it up with way points, and you can put notes and stuff on it. I've not used the functionality but it does have an option for tracking routes so might be worth a go.

Plot a route is excellent. I use it a lot for walking running and cycling.

Ride with GPS allows a webpage or app route planning.
I find it quite useful

There are ton of these apps.
Some people like 'outdoor active' because it's apparently easier than most if you can't be bothered to put your reading glasses on.

They are nearly all just 'front ends' for OpenStreetMap.

The alternative is to cough up for an OS package.

i use Komoot and have done since testing all the "free apps" a couple of years ago. i had to buy a subscription for my LEJOG adventure but after it expired i was left with all the UK maps free for life.

It's great but needs practice to use and get the best from it. It even shows different surface types so you can see the routes to avoid. However it will, when "road touring", direct you down some dubious bridle paths.
