PH Hivemind - Spotted a few threads discussing the merits (or not) of vacuum mounted bike racks in Pedal Powered but if I want to take my 996 on our French cycling trip this year then I don't have many options so I've just pulled the trigger on a Rockbros two bike rack and am planning to use it later in the summer.

Lots of good advice online about how to care for the vacuum pads and making sure they are still holding pressure every few hours on the trip, but I've just realised that we're getting an overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo as part of our trip and won't have the chance to check on/pump up them up for 12 hours or so.

Not expecting a rough crossing on that route, but has anyone got any experience using these racks on the car overnight on a ferry?

Sorry no experience of these racks but you can check before you go by just leaving the rack on overnight and see what it’s lost in the morning. You would then know if you needed any other fixing. Ideally you can fit the bike overnight if you have the headroom in your garage.
