After finally accepting that “I have enough bikes” (I know, right ?) I’m looking at using my next year of eligibility to buy some new wheels, bib shorts, maybe a helmet etc with my cycle to work voucher.

Any experience on whether this offers good value ? Specifically via Sigma (who seem to be honouring sale prices via C2W, whereas previously it was RRP or current price plus 10%).

I’ve entertained this with my LBS before but they were pretty unapologetic in telling me I could use a voucher but it would need to be at RRP for everything (which really dilutes the savings on clothing etc vs online).

Note: I happily buy my tubes, consumables, servicing etc from my friendly LBS but spending £1k+ at RRP is a bit too much to swallow.

The reason why some will not do it or charge RRP is the commission that the scheme providers charge

Between 10% and 15% so very little in it for the retailer.

Thanks, I knew about that (my LBS has told me not to bother ordering stuff with them as it’s not worth their while) so was surprised to see Sigma offering no mark-up on sale items.

Maybe this is more a factor of Sigma’s precarious situation than the mechanics of the C2W scheme ? Conscious there’s another thread on that subject so I’ll maybe leave my speculation at that for the moment !
