Kids trek or carrera bike?

Hello,

My 8 year old son wants a mountain bike. I am not sure what is better: a Carrera Blast Junior Mountain Bike (Limited Edition) - 24" Wheel from halfords. This one have disk brakes but it is 2kg heavier than the trek


Trek Precaliber 24 Inch Suspension 8 Speed Kids Bike 2022 in Red. This one has v brakes.

Any advice what is better please?

I'm guessing at a £300ish budget, there are better options than both of those.
Best deals are on old stock, especially this time of year, 2024 bikes will already be in the shops, and sometimes the olded bikes are actually a better spec than the new ones.

Trek Wahoo 24 is a real flier. Doesn't need to be complicated. The light weight makes a big difference for young kids.

We don't have this same bike, but my boys both ride Vitus bikes and I have to say they've been brilliant and very very tough bikes for a 3 and 6 year old.

Another vote for Vitus. My kids had the Smoothy balance bike (excellent) then 14 and 16 kids bikes - loads better value than the mainstream brands.
