I’m on the lookout for the warmest gloves (note not mittens or lobster claws) available for up to £100 or so, ideally with some water resistance too. I’ve narrowed down my selection to the Assos Ultraz, Castelli Perfetto Max and maybe the Pearl Izumi Amfib Gel. As far as I can tell from the descriptions I think the first two would be the best but does anyone have any feedback on these or any alternative suggestions please?

Castelli estremo, currently £99 at sigma sports. I can only wear them when it's around freezing otherwise they are too warm!

Sigma have them on offer in XL for £29

If you have deeper pockets and like layers, Dissent have a layered "system":

I got some summit things from TNF outlet and they’re insanely warm. To the point they’re almost useless.

I had my first test of these at the weekend and my hands were fine with temps between 5-10c. My hands run cold so it was a good start!

I second this. The Castelli Estremo's are the real deal for very cold weather - and have matching overshoes available too (which I have but not tried yet)

I also have the Perfetto's and while very nice, are really best for mild Winter use.

My Rapha Winter gloves are also warm but need a matching base layer for very cold days and, unlike my Estremo's, don't handle rain very well.

I second the Endura Pro SL Primaloft Waterproof gloves, I suffer from very cold hands while riding and these are the best I have bought, and I have gone through a few pairs or other gloves and settled in these.

How waterproof are the Climb & Conquer gloves? They look similar to Q36.5 Amphib winter rain gloves – I wonder if they use comparable waterproofing?

I suffer terribly with cold hands, these 100% were suggested to me last year and they’re brilliant in the cold for a very reasonable price.

Assos Ultraz winter gloves, these have kept my hands warm in below freezing temps on Sunday morning club runs. Yes they're £100 but they are absolutely warm, and you still maintain dexterity to use the gears and brakes.

I just use a pair of Tresspass or Mountain Warehouse waterproof/breathable winter gloves. Work fine.

Bought some expensive sealskin gloves but they get wet from the inside due to sweat.

As with many endorse the Castelli Extremo gloves

gave up with over boots years ago, pain in the arse as they rip and tear the second you walk anywhere. I've worn these the last few winters, way better solution to keeping the feet warm (they still get wet though as water will wck down your tights and into the shoe)

I can recommend a set of these - https://www.dissent133.com/

Layering system that keeps my fingers warm and dry. I did get a spare pair of the baselayer gloves for the coffee stops. Take off the used, slightly sweaty ones and put fresh ones on.

These are great, if a little bulky:

Hands have never been cold in them during deep winter rides

Overshoes can indeed be a hit or miss affair.

I tried DHB ones and they sucked. I tried expensive Santini deep Winter ones and the zip broke on two pairs - they replaced the first.

I then tried Rapha and they are great. Simply pull on first, then fold over the shoes. No chance of tearing. No zips to break. I've used them for 2 seasons with zero problems. Do let some water in though but do keep the chill out.

I bought the Estremo version because they are rated to handle even colder, wetter weather. We'll see, not tried them yet.

Spatz THRMOZ with the camel-toe over sock.

As warm as anything I've ever had from the more established brands but thinner and provide more feel. And only £70.

Take a look at cold store / freezer gloves from workplace suppliers, mine are excellent, actually are xxl & didn't come with the cyclist apparel tax.
