Hello all,

I'm at Bike Park Wales on Monday and on Sunday we're thinking either Cwmcarn or Forest Of Dean. Looking at their respective websites they mention a few trail closures, but not tooo sure how impactful they really are, anyone ridden either in the last week or two? For a bit of context I haven't ridden either for 5-6 years so not sure exactly what trail name closures would mean, more wondering what sort of percentage of the trails are shut.

Thanks for any responses.

Forest of Dean all day. Amazing trails (some of the best in the county - launchpad is perfection), lovely cafe, nice skills area, best free place to ride in this area. All the good trails are open so it should be fine?

Was at FOD weekend before last, all the uplift stuff was open. Website just says timber drop is currently closed on GBU for repairs. https://www.forestryengland.uk/article/forest-dean...

Not been to Cwmcarn for a while, last few times bits have been closed but I think most of that is done now. Website is just saying some works near the lodge and carpark at the moment. https://naturalresources.wales/days-out/places-to-...

Thanks for the replies.
Not looking to uplift at FOD or Cwmcarn, saving that for BPW the following day. FOD website suggests issues on Verderers and Freeminers, couldn't figure out how much they actually impact the trail and Cwmcarn suggests some part is shut on the Twrch trail, but I don't know if it's on the decent or climb?

Cwmcarn is amazing, the website is usally woefully out of date.
rI was there Saturday and aside from the odd fallen tree due to the storm the day before it was all open, they will be cleay by now.

Some of the best riding is the semi-offical Risca Bike Park which runs through the Twrch Trail, but it's not signposted (other than warning signs youre leaving the Red Graded Twrch trail) and the trails start about a Trail Centre Black and get harder from there.

The centre itself is a bit lacking, the Cafe is okay..

FOD is the nicer venue, the cafe is great, there's a lot of trails (and a lot of off-piste ones too) and it's all be a bit more accessable. The offical XC aren't a patch on the Cwmcarn ones, but the DH ones are great, I really like the new Twisted Sister trail.

Thanks P-Jay, that exactly what I wanted to know about the trails at Cwmcarn.

Trying not to drive all the way from Kent to find half a trail shut due to maintenance.
