I have an (old but perfectly functional) Wattbike Pro - the one where resistance can only be set manually - with the console that will transmit credence/power/speed etc to an iPad. I’ve generally used it with my library of old-skool Sufferfest videos. It works well, and I get the data from the rides into my Strava etc.

All good, but I am tempted to try one of the more modern iPad apps. There are lots to choose from - Bkool, Fulgaz, Wahoo etc. Zwift doesn’t really appeal, I see it as a gamified/social version of cycling which isn’t really what I want. What I would like to do is settle in and “ride” some of the famous climbs (AdeH, Stelvio etc) on my iPad as training sessions. I’ve ridden a lot of them IRL! So the app needs somehow to take pace or power data from the Wattbike and use that to inform the speed of progression.

Can PH’s resident indoor cycling/training experts point me in the right direction?? Thank you in advance!

I've only experience of Zwift and recently cancelled my subscription. I'm planning to try MyWhoosh which seems to be free to use. It's very new but they are now associated with the UCI and will be hosting indoor cycling championships in the future. Might be worth a look?

Tried a few, didn't get on with Zwift as like you say it's too gamey and not the realism I want.

Fulgaz and Rouvy are the best IMO, Rouvy being the one I use as I found Fulgaz to be buggy which is a shame as if it ran smooth it'd be brilliant.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I’ve got FulGaz up and running, with a little help from their customer service people. It does exactly what I want, and has worked ok so far. I’m really pleased by the amount of climbs available, and have a list of many I’ve ridden IRL to try. Passo Selva yesterday, and the Telegraphe to Valloire lined up for tomorrow. Testing will continue this week…
