Can I buy a helmet from the EU without having a VAT charge to pay (as bike helmets are zero-rated for VAT)?

There may also be a Customs charge, but that’s likely negligible – only a couple of quid.

I recently bought a set of lowers to 29'er convert some forks from Bike Inn. Came from Spain and didn't pay a penny extra on tax or duty....

Think things are hit and miss from what I've heard.

Is it below £135 ( I think please check) over that charges apply.

I was looking just over £135, but aren’t helmets zero-rated for VAT?

I’m not up to date with zero vat on helmets but you may have customs duty.
Why buy from outside the UK?
Have you checked that the supplier will ship to the uk some German sites are ok until you get to shipping
100€ plus.
