Suicide?

Can't imagine I'll be doing motorway miles with one of these, but may try and use it on the TVR on the odd occasion so it'll need to be pretty damn secure - has anyone ever tried one? do you need to "top up" the suction often?

It will stick ok, it’s like those suckers they use for lifting big sheets of glass.
I suspect it will mark and scratch your paintwork, and on a TVR you may find the fibreglass will give too much and the paint may crack

Fair point - I don't think the FG will flex compared to a metal roof, but something worth considering. Minor scratches that polish out, I could live with, but cracks/peeling paint is another thing.

Easier to store and install/remove though. I like the simplicity.

They are prety good - loads of people on the MTB forums use the Rock Bros sea-sucker knock off.

However - not in a million years would I stick one to a GRP TVR body.

Often wondered about those for taking skis on long journeys. We have them in the car so far, but if we have 2 in the back it does limit space a bit….

I’ve got one of these which I use for a 25kg e-mtb. It’s absolutely fine even at a good motorway speed.

Mine’s a Treefrog pro 3, rated for 3 analogue bikes or 2 e-bikes.

I have a sea sucker and a rock bros - I use it on my Cayman - they don't come off, I've done hundreds of miles.

You do need to fix them to hard points though - like a crossmember under the skin or a rear window - else they flex the panels and this could lead to holograms or worse in the paint.
