Never had one when I was a kid in the 1970's, and can't afford this new one either frown

Any PHer's have memories of the iconic bicycle?

Yes, iconic. Also never had one, or a Grifter which I really wanted.

Yes, I didn’t have one I had the Commando but my friends had thrm a a friend of mine still has a mark 2.
They were and are not the safest especially downhill but we didn’t care whilst doing sketchy jumps!

£950 is a bit steep for a 3 speed with “slip gear”

My younger brother had a Grifter, and I had a Raleigh Scirocco racing bike..

Am sure Raleigh also did a small version of the Chopper called the Chipper..!

I think they produced a new bike every month! Seem to remember a mini Chopper (Tomahawk) and two mini-style Grifters (Boxer, Striker)

Yes I had a Chipper , It was a cool bike , everyone thought it was a chopper , I think the rear wheel was the same size as the choppers front wheel.

I had a Grifter! Three speed that you twisted from the hand grip.

My brother had one. I rode it once and fell off.
The Raleigh I really liked later was my Chrome Burner BMX

This guy has a few choppers

There was also the Raleigh Budgie which was a smaller version..... I don't remember the Chipper, but a mate had a Budgie.

I had a Tomahawk in Purple. Then a Grifter, Extra Burner, Ti branded Europa & a Record Sprint.

Recently bought the 40th Anniversary Tuff Burner. This looks great too.

Local bully had a grifter, so I don't have fond memories.

Mate had a striker, pretty sure it had some spoke clacker from a serial packet fitted. Happy days!

Raleigh commando. About 3rd hand. Knackered.

Replaced with a gold ultra burner. I was like a dog with two dicks.

At my old middle school, you could tell who had the well off parents as they had a Raleigh Lizard whereas the okish lot had to make do with a Raleigh Mustang!

Yes! Dreadful lumps to move and get going with little legs! Boy did they sap your energy on a run..

I found the Chopper I tried as a kid a terrible ride, probably my first ever experience of a style-over-substance product. Ponderous and wobbly, like those old American tractors that had their front wheels set together...or probably any custom chopper with or without ape-hangers!

Loved the odd bmx I could cadge a ride on, never had one of my own..

I still have a scar from coming off my grifter!
