After a bit of advice. My bike has r9150 dura-ace di2 gears. Today I lost changing on the front ring and was stuck on the granny ring. On getting home and having a poroper look a small plastic rod that pushes the mech out to shift onto the big ring has snapped.

I can’t seem to find any reference to spare parts online. Is anyone aware if this is something that can be replaced or will it be a £££ new front derailleur job? I tried to take a couple of pics but they aren’t the best for reference.

Cheers, that’s all I could find as well, bd! Nice bit of kit but bloody expensive when it goes wrong.

How 3D printable might it be? Notwithstanding finding a model, and a printer, and blah blah blah.

I have no idea, I suspect it will be easy but I have zero knowledge in that department

If it's just a push rod with a couple of holes at the ends of a bar, then it would be easy to make an alloy replacement out of a piece of flat bar.

I had a R8070 Ultegra Di2 front mech die back in June 2021. It looks like a different bit has gone on yours though - the damaged plastic bit in my photo should be attached to the metal bar above it. That meant you could try to get into the big ring but that plastic part would then flop down, so the cage would come back over the granny.

Typically, I was about 30km into a 115km evening / night sportive when it broke, so on flat sections I was pedalling like a hamster on speed. Oh, and my chain snapped with about 30km left. At which point I realised the multi-tool I had with me didn't have a chain breaker so I couldn't use one of the quick links I had with me...

Cost me £170 for a new front mech from Wiggle (bless them having stock alerts as I was struggling to even find one anywhere with all the component shortages).

The bit that’s snapped on mine is to the right of your snapped bit in the image. Oddly on that ultegra derailleur it looks to be made out of metal and not plastic like on the dura-ace version. Reliability sacrificed to save a gram?

Or they could have designed it to fail to save major damage

Maybe but that would be a bit pointless given you have to replace the whole bloody thing anyway if it fails.

Insured?

Either way, I'd head to your LBS and get them to advise, or see if they have a fix.

I had that exact same issue on mine, broke at the top of that plastic piece. I lived with it for a month (kinda worked for a while if I jammed it back in position) until I caved and binned it off.
