I have a camper with a bike garage. All my bikes fit fine except for my enduro because it’s a 27.5” and the daft fork angle makes it too long. It’s never been an issue as my partner doesn’t ride downhill so I lay the bike down if I go riding DH.

We’re travelling together around the alps soon and ideally I’d take all my bikes and hers. The only way I can find of fitting in my enduro is to depressurise the fork making the angle less and the bars lower. Would that cause me issues doing it regularly?

Ace. Thankyou. I’m going to do it just for a laugh now.

Slightly more expansive answer, take note of the pressure before letting them down so you can pump them back up to your ideal pressure without having to go through the whole sag setting process each time & keep in mind that you should equalise the positive & negative chambers when inflating by stopping every 20 psi or so & cycling the fork through its travel before continuing but in essence, all you're doing by deflating them is working within the design parameters & so you cannot damage them by letting air out.

That's a great response, thankyou. I regularly adjust pressures due to the nature of the bike and type of riding I do so I have a note with different pressures I use already which will help. I was concerned about a full release of pressure but on reflection that's daft, as you say it's just being used within the parameters it was designed and in any case it'll only be for a few weeks over summer before its back to normal pressure and hanging on the wall.

Thanks again.

The Fox forks on my hardtail do this themselves - probably time for a service.

Would it be easier to take the front wheel out, rather than messing about with the forks?

That was the idea, the van bed was built at a height to accept my 26” bike and 700c road bike with the front wheel removed and the through axel into a clamp on the floor of the van garage. The downhill bike though doesn’t fit even with the wheel out because the forks are so big and the head angle so slack.

It fits fine with the fork depressurised. Just a faff to pump back up but given it’ll only be used for serious stuff and I’ll have the road bike and trail bike available with only the front wheel refit to be ready it’ll be ok. It’s all because the wife’s coming on this one that I have less space. I’ll learn!
