Mountain bike pedal recommendations
Discussion
I need some shiny new flat pedals to go with my shiny new bike, ideally some that cost between £50 and £100 and have a largeish platform to suit size 12's.
I've done an internet search, and the Nukeproof Horizon Pro Sam Hill pedals get a good review, and as a bonus are on offer at Wiggle for £60. But I've also been looking at DMR V12, DMR Vault and Hope F20 pedals, and I'm now confused as they all get decent reviews.
As always, I would appreciate real life recommendations from people on here who know about such stuff.
TIA PH.

Personal preference is always a big factor with contact points, so you will probably get a bunch of different answers!
I've used Nukeproof Neutron, Shimano PD-GR500, OneUp composite, Kona Wah Wah 2, probably some others I've forgotten.
My favourites so far are the Kona Wah Wah 2 - big supportive platform, good grip, thin enough profile, don't get clogged with mud.

Having previously had very nice (Shimano Saint) pedals I’ve gone over to using composite (plastic) having thought they’d be terrible for years.
Now using the Nukeproof Neutrons on all of my bikes. Seem very tough, have loads of grip and a decent platform size and shape. Often on offer so £20 or less. The axle retaining plug/bolt is a bit of a weakness but I just coat it in loctite from new and not had any issues.
Just another avenue to consider. If I wanted expensive pedals I’d go Hope though. Made in the U.K., and probably still be rebuildable 20 years from now.

I have Hope F20s on one of my bikes and they've been my most used pedal for the last 8 years - only needing one rebuild in that time. I also have some Crankbrothers Stamp 7s, which have a similar feel to the Hopes, at least through the soles of my Five Tens, however they are nowhere near as robust and need more regular maintenance.
Hope have recently announced a new model of pedal to replace the F20s, so I would also be looking at those.

I'm a fan of plastic pedals over alloy; there doesn't seem to be any major advantages to metal.
After coming from the Nukeproof Evos which were OK, I tried the sanppily named HT pa-03a, which my size 12s absolutely love. Somehow, they feel bigger than they measure, and my feet just come down on them in the right place. They get decent reviews from the magazines, too, who've tried a lot more pedals than I have!

+1 for composite.
DMR V11 are £35 on CRC/Wiggle, same shape as Vault, don't make as much noise when you hit them on a rock.
How tough are they? I managed to bend a crank hitting a rock with a Vault. The pedal was fine. (Not actually sure that was a good thing though!)DMR V11 are £35 on CRC/Wiggle, same shape as Vault, don't make as much noise when you hit them on a rock.
It's quite funny that composite plastics are seen as a desirable thing for frames (with a bit of carbon in it) but the cheap option for pedals.
I'm not a fan of how coloured composite pedals tend to look, but black is good and actually stays black rather than losing their anodising over time.
my Penny's worth is to go for Pembree Pedals. I've been using them for about 2 years now and haven't even contemplated servicing them. some that are mentioned above I've used and have needed to service them within the first 6 months, which on top of the other things that need servicing on a MTB is a ball ache to add to.
Nukeproof's are ok, just slightly heavy.
