A thread for those on the impromptu you make.

I'd say that is currently a bodge, but the addition of a pair of penny washers would have that as a proper job.

I hate the term hack and should be banned on pain of death by snoo-snoo.

Very nice job, but seriously, fit some larger plain flat washers below those grip washers. You don't want to go ripping cloth.

Already done!

I"ll wrap some electrical tape around the top of that join, looks a bit untidy.

Surely just buying a proper rear cycling light with no mucking about with bolts, washers, wires, batteries and drilling holes in your saddle bag is better?
£15 for a 50 lumen light that is USB rechargeable would just seem and better idea?
Also hate the hack/bodge thing - it’s always a bodge and never very genius either.

Especially on a bag that has a strap designed to fix a clip on rear light already attached.

What’s it from? Motorbike or something? Doesn’t it require a big battery? I really don’t see the point when rechargeable LED lights are really bright now weigh nothing and cost peanuts.

Dynamo powered light. No need to remember to charge batteries. Will still be running after 500 km.

I still often use battery powered lights, but this allows an insurance.

Since I use the saddlebag for things such as inner tubes and multitools, a little water ingress isn't an issue.

The key driver of the change was getting a Varia, whereas the previous mounting system I was using I was happy enough with. I had a temporary system with a rail under the saddle, but it rattled and precluded using a saddlebag.

This popped up for sale locally…. Can’t get my head around that handle bar height. Definitely in the bodge category I think.
