I thought I'd share this in case of interest to anyone.

On One Hello Dave reduced from £1899.99 to £999 looks a bit of a bargain to me. If I had the space and the need for an aggressive hardtail I'd be all over this.

Not surprised they're discounting these. It's a bit individual as an idea. A hardtail with the geometry of a DH bike that weighs 15+kg depending on size & spec. Can only see it working as a bike park thing if you don't mind long push ups.

Agreed the geometry only lends itself to certain types of riding, but the components on it are a bargain at that price.

That's true & it looks fun if you put it to the right use.

I have one. It pedals surprisingly well for what it is, more than capable of going uphill. It’s not the ideal tool for tight switchbacks but it’s fine. There’s a wide uphill rock garden section I regularly ride and it absolutely storms up that no problem.

£999 is an absolute bargain, for an extra £50 you can swap the Pike for a Lyrik which is a staggeringly high spec bike for the money.

I still wheel this old lady out every now & again. A decent On one is a bit like an Alfa - can't call yourself a proper pedal head unless you've owned one. Probably not that Hello Dave for me though. wink

Folks claiming one trick poney, have you actually ridden one or are you just repeating Internet opinion?

I've got a Pole Taival - similar but even more extreme geo - and it's a superb trail bike. LS geo can ride up and down very well.

I've raced xc on mine and ridden DH tracks and everything in between.

A large chunk of that weight is in those wheels BTW. They're a 2.3kg wheelset.

Folks means me as the sole dissenting opinion, and yes I have tried one. HTH. The internet, where you're never more than six foot from some unhappy soul spoiling for a row. rolleyes

You and spunky.

Not spoiling for a row, but there are thousands of happy enduro geo hardtail owners and your post is not remotely balanced.

So it would be a shame for someone to read the: only goes DH comments and miss out on a bargain trail bike that both climbs well and descends well. As you've ridden one, you'll know they climb superbly becuase the lwb offers great traction...better than an xc bike in many instances.

The only negative is it's weight... But few bikes at 999 are light weight.

OK, I'm very happy not being remotely balanced in your view. Have a great day.

Reminds me of the monstrosities that the locals ride in Cusco.

I keep looking at HTs but I have too many bikes, keep thinking to buy a £200 ragley frame, mmbop so slack etc. But doubt I'll ride it ever.

Maybe if you're in the UK, don't think they are a thing for the rest of the world though? Never seen them on the market here in NZ.

Back on topic, never ridden one so I can only speculate from the geometry etc but they certainly appear to be quite focussed on steep stuff, I personally prefer more of an all-rounder especially for a hardtail. A good hardtail is so much fun.

Does look like exceptional spec for the money though!

Wasn't hugely serious with that but On One is a sub brand of Planet X which as far as I know is a UK only outfit in Rotherham & mostly road bike focused.
