clothing and helmet suggestions for new biker
Discussion
Strictly speaking I'm not really a new biker, I've been riding bikes and motorbikes for nearly 60 years, but I've been off pushbikes for a good five years and have just bought an e-bike to take me on 8-12 mile trips to the shops and golf course.
I've never had dedicated cycling gear so I'm now in the market for some. Thinking jacket, helmet and gloves to start with. Must be hi-vis as I'll be doing battle with tractors and pickups round these parts.
All suggestions gratefully received, along with any suggestions for a good online one-stop shop to get it from.

Take a look at the POC omne air for the helmet. Great helmet and lot of bang for the buck. Can recommend galibier.cc for gloves and jacket too.
Make sure to get some decent lights if you don't already have some. This time of year it's almost certain you'll get caught in the dark at some point.

Shocked at the price of gloves. £50 seems normal! Think I'll stick with the gardening ones for the minute.
£50 is overpriced for gloves. These are almost half that and fantastic even at sub-zero temperatures. Back in stock next week, worth the wait.https://www.galibier.cc/product/barrier-deep-winte...

Personally I found Helmets are something you really need to try on, even within brands I find quite a bit of difference in fitment. You didn't mention lights, these will make you a lot more visible, especially when on day mode flash/pulse.

Yes I've been wondering about that, especially as I have a big head, sniper's dream etc.Sorry I should have mentioned that the bike comes with lights already on it. On a belt and braces basis I've ordered a hi-vis helmet cover with built in LEDs.

If you run cold anyway, and are on an ebike so not working so hard and not needing breathability, hard to beat a hi-viz worker's coat.
I've just bought one for exactly this reason - my normal cycling stuff is too cold for my ebike as I'm not working hard at it. Very easy to spot, warm, waterproof, and cheap as chips (£27 in this case). Thin hood that will go under my helmet ok in the rain.

Looks exactly right, I was thinking along these lines but feared ridicule so I'm glad to have it OK'd by a proper rider! Thank you.
