Just looked at my strava All-Time stats and I average roughly 10m of climbing per km travelled, is this unusual?

I am at 11.4m per km...but I live in a fairly steep sided valley, so I am probably a little unusual.

Just checked mine... it's pretty close!

Distance and elevation this year: 9171 km / 91147 m

So 9.94m per km...

It's fairly flat around here but I have been seeking out hills a lot more this year.

I have lived in London the whole ten years that was done. So seems fairly normal.

Flatter here!
Total
44,891km
358,597m
so ~ 8m /km

2022
7465km
52328
so ~ 7m /km probably due to less time on the MTB this last year.

Unsurprisingly the Thames Valley is fairly flat until you hit the edges

I assumed the OP was in Holland! I live in the Purbecks so my average is a bit over 1000ft/mile. About 190m/km.
An average of 19%... er, no.

All time is 6.4m per km. but it’s pretty flat (relatively) round my way.

All time:

Elevation - 608293m
8.1m /km

This year:

Distance - 10786.3km
Elevation - 107116m
9.93m/km. Probably because of our 9 day Alps trip biggrin

Dorset, not Purbecks, here.
209,740 m / 21,740.4 km = 9.6 m/km

The hilliest rides I've done were all on Zwift, followed by a Hill Climb that was 52 m/km.

For substantial distance a 115 km Dartmoor Sportive clocked up 2360m, 20.5 m/km. Or virtually vEveresting was 9,154m/227 km = 40.2 m/km. Brutal. (trainer set to 100%).

<1% is a flat ride
1-1.25% is a normal ride (I live in London)
1.25-1.75% is a hilly ride
>1.75% is when I'm in the Alps/Canaries

YMMV

This Year

87,615m
10.98m/km was as high as 13.55m/km for August

I'm amazed at how low these numbers are as I'm fat and try and avoid hills when road riding. I do do plenty of mountain biking though. This years numbers are 2644km and 46446m which gives 17.6m per km.

All time recorded on Strava is 13403km and 177271m giving 13.2m per km.

Mine is showing just under 31m climb per km average for this year.

For context that is pretty much entirely MTB, and a lot less total km than most of you.

My regular(ish) local MTB laps average around 40-50m climb per km depending which trails I ride.

My riding is a mix of road, gravel and mtb, and I live in a hilly place so usually average around 13-17m climbing per km without really looking for it.

Strava has me at 15.1m per km over almost 28,000km

Toughest ride was a pre-Strava 100km off-road race that covered just over 3000m climbing, nearly all of it on double track and single track. That was about 7 hours of pain.

I fecken hate climbing…

Yorkshire is lumpy but the Vale of York is flat as a fart. We do usually head up to NY and the Moors on a lot of club rides .... a couple of European weeks has probably bumped mine up over the years.

Total
125,538km
1,015,230m
8m per km

YTD
15,526
95,162m
6m per km

Lots of flat racing this year on circuits has probably contributed to the low climbing volume ... plus this includes all my indoor rides ... I don't use Zwift so my indoor miles are flat smile

Fairly small distances myself
2100km last year, 23000m of climbing
Roughly same again this year
So about 10m per km
