Uber Eats - Anyone Else?
Discussion
A mate of mine signed up to deliver and was raving about it so I thought I'd give it a go. Free to sign up, though a bit of a faff with supplying e-documents for the DBS certificate and authorisation.
Have had a couple of trips out now, and have really enjoyed bombing round town living out my GTA fantasies (albeit delivering McDonald's rather than AK47s and high explosives.. Probably)
Bit hit and miss as to how many shouts you get. I've been sat there with nothing while others around me are in and out like a fiddler's elbow. I've not detected a pattern yet, but I assume there's an allocation algorithm in place.
Anyone else have any experience with UE or similar outfits? I'm only doing it for a bit of beer money and to keep my motivation going through the winter months. Can imagine it's quite stressful if it's your only source of income though.

Yup, another one here (Deliverpoo), although I'm channeling Crazy Taxi rather than GTA
It's good fun on a push bike, I'm on a single speed so lots of stop/start/HEAVE followed by a series of timed sprints between points. I get paid to get fitter and make people happy by turning up with food.
Nice bit of beer money too!
Strava trace looks a little strange though, and I won't be winning any speed prizes with the waiting times at collection points. ..

Ah that's cool, thanks for sharing.
Do you find it quite sporadic? I'm only bunging a couple of hours on here and there so no real consistency, but do find I'm sitting around a lot waiting whereas others seem to get more pings.
I'm not sure how the Uber app works as I've not used it, but the Deliverpoo one gives you a heatmap of the area you're working, so you can decide whether it's worth going out.... They also list upcoming multipliers to their standard rates when they're expecting to be busy. That can be hit and miss for you as an individual as more riders will be out, but boy they got it right this evening! 10 orders in a little over 3 hours - a mixture of restaurants and supermarkets.Do you find it quite sporadic? I think it depends on area as well, I think they have more of the market share in York, so are busier (although Just Eat and Uber Eats are here as well). I tend to do sporadic evenings on weekdays and weekends when it fits in - mostly guided by their predictions of when it will be busy if I'm honest, as I'd rather not sit around getting cold for too long.
I do find it fascinating in terms of trying to learn how the system works for all concerned, and where the money goes.
Hope it picks up for you!

Cheers bud, similar model to Uber then. Though the heatmap is a nice touch. Uber give you a crappy graph based on your local area, but I'm a couple of miles out of town so it's always flat.
Like yourself, I jump on when time and circumstances allow. I've had better results in my work town, but that's 7 miles away and an annoying commute with the bloody great bag on my back haha.
