I have used Schwalbe Marathons 700 x 32 on my hybrid for day to day use for many years but I am riding a mixture of roads and canal paths these days and winter seems well on its way so I am considering changing over to something more capable in the coming conditions.

But there are so many tyres it is so confusing! I don't think I need spiked tyres but I am open to opinions, puncture protection is definitely important.

Also, is it possible to move up to 700 x 35 or would I have trouble getting them on the rims?

I have seen the Schwalbe Marathon GT 365 in a 700 x 35 which seems like an upgrade in grip whilst also giving good puncture protection.

Would these be a good choice?

Whether they fit depends on frame clearance and rim width.

I commuted 25 miles a day for 15 years or so.
I knew the puncture fairy very well but she got royally peed off when I bout Schwalbe Marathon Plus, I think she moved as I never saw her again.

I have had the plus before - never again. They were tricky to fit and weighed a ton.

The standard Marathons are great for me in the dry but not that grippy in winter time.

Continental Top Contact 2 Winter come in a 37mm width. Tell us what your bike is or send a picture of the clearance between tyre and fork.

Thanks. 37mm might be a bit chunky for me - I still want to keep a decent pace.

I fit the afore mentioned Continental Top Contact 2 Winter in a 37mm width during winter and I wouldn't say it's much slower than the G-Ones that are normally on it.

I have a flat barred Canyon Roadlite, which looks similar to your bike, and no clearance issues with them.

Spiked tyres are great, but they tend to shed the spikes.

Ran Marathons on my Crosstrail hybrid for many years when riding road/paths, , then went more off road for my commute and went with Scwalbe Land Cruisers. Not as puncture resistant as Marathons (obviously). But cheap as chips and much better on the gravel/mud.

Halfords always have decent offers on them.

Damn, that is cheap, at that price no harm in giving them a go,

Thanks!
