Anyone know if you can use chemical paint stripper on a carbon frame that won't damage it?

The kind of stripper you'd use on wood, will it work, anyone tried it?

Apparently you can sand blast them (lightly) but I don't have access to that and the alternative is painstakingly slow.

Thanks

Unless you are stripping back to just have bare carbon then you don't need to take all the old paint off before applying new paint so why risk a chemical strip?

Avoid additional weight smile

Seriously, ok, I didn't know that. So I guess you just rough it up a bit to provide better adhesion?

Use Scotch Brite pads to roughen up. Any chemicals risk the integrity of the carbon. Have a look on YouTube.

I fully sanded a carbon frame in a couple of evenings

Used an electric DA to get the worst off then wet and dry (wet).

Started off with 120 to break the surface then went up to 600 to finish.
