Question for the hive mind because my google-foo is failing me.

I have a Boardman Hardtail mountain bike. I have a child. I have been given a child seat, and I have bought a pannier rack.

After much fun fitting the rack, I've not realised that the width of the top bars on the rack are 95mm, but the minimum clamp width of the seat appears to be 110mm.

One or the other will likely need to be replaced as adaptors don't appear to be an option. But going forward, any suggestions on how to avoid this? It doesn't appear to be a common complaint, nor does it appear to be a commonly specified dimension.

I might be wrong, but I don't think the pannier rack is suitable for a child seat. Certainly the last two pannier racks I have bought state they aren't suitable for child seats.

If it's not that, then I'm out of ideas!

Went into LBS to specifically buy one for this purpose and it's rated for 20kg and nothing on the packaging or website I could see. Shall check again.

Depends on age have you looked at the Thule yepp or a shotgun seat.

I have had my niece who is 3 on the shotgun seat and also the yepp and she absolutely loved it and also they are front facing and see more of the environment instead of your back.
