I’m sure this has come up before but does anyone have and ideas of how to get the retainer pin out without the need of a new rear calliper.

Thanks

Assume you're swapping pads anyway. Some sort of anti seize spray, Plus Gas, WD40 etc. Leave it overnight, and give a wiggle with some mole grips.

They are getting low, but to get this out I am going to change them for sure.

These screw in using a m4 Allen key don't they? What is the status of the Allen bolt? Sometime they just need some balls with a decent Allen key, it will make an awful crack but will come undone. One to note for future three do not need to be done up tight at all as they have a c clip which stops the pin rattling out.

You don't want to use too much wd40 etc on it as it may affect the caliper seals. That said I'd be inclined to use a very small amount. Once the pin is out, rub the pad with a bit of sand paper and then burn off any crap over a gas stove.

Yes they sure are.

Anyway had to get these drilled out, got titanium T25 Torx in both callipers now.

My 105s have done it. I went with XT calipers as a replacement. Unsure how long they will last as they are no different

I have been wary about mine seizing so I have tried to include removing them as part of maintenance but somehow I missed preventing the rear 105 pin from seizing. I tried plusgas very carefully, but once the pads are done I'll try a bit more liberal use of it before I need to get it drilled out

I didn’t even know it could happen on these to be honest.

I changed the pins to titanium and got rid of the standard ones completely.

My set of old Ultegra calipers have both seized despite putting grease on the thread of the pins. I've since replaced the calipers with the new Ultegra and interestingly, they come with an allen head pin rather than the screw-head type.

I did the same and went with T25 Torx titanium ones, don’t want that happening again and having to drill them out.

Got any details on the ones you've used.

I've not had any issues with the pins in mine but would be interested to change them anyway

As others have already said, apply some anti seize copper grease, and don’t tighten them too hard. The Swiss stop pads come with an allen head high tensile bolt

A normal split pin could also be used...no seized bolts to worry about.
