Need to replace the bearings on my Boardman Mx bottom bracket, threaded bearing cup on non drive side came out traditional way no problem but spline tool slipped on the drive side and now not sure if it's rh or Lh thread. No markings to suggest it's anything other than normal rh thread but does anybody know for sure before I persevere with the impact gun.
It's a Sram chainset/crank?
Thanks

Reverse thread on drive side.
What I do is put the other bearing back in but not tight and then put a bolt right through the axle to clamp the removal tool to the bearing. Once they start to slip can be a real pain. redface

Thanks for the tip, decided to stick with the impact gun as i'd already used that to "tighten" it, but I made sure the splines were properly clean and and did it on the floor where I could push down on it instead of the bike stand, two things I should have done first time, apart from turning it the correct way of course.rolleyes

All apart now, bearings definitely need replacing but not 100% convinced that will cure the "creaking" , the bearing on one side seems to be a fairly loose fit in the shell compared with the other side.
I'll put it back with two new bearings and maybe some retaining compound and see what happens.

Pedals: right side is a right hand thread, left side is a left hand thread.

Bottom bracket is the other way round: right side is left hand thread, left side is right hand thread.

Unless it's an Italian threaded BB where both sides are RH threads.

Simples! rotate

I don't think it's a good idea to have an impact gun near a bike.
