Had a crash, mech hanger did it’s job, ordered a new one but like a tt I ordered for rim brake… mine’s disc.

So, off to Spain with my bike this weekend- any recos as to how I can try straightening the hanger- I don’t have a vice…

Thanks

Id asked because I was nervous of straightening it installed on a carbon frame… I put the axle back in and very carefully applied pressure, thankfully it didn’t snap. Haven’t tried installing the derailleur yet, hopefully all sorted!

My mech hanger was bent from the bike being new, must have took a knock in the box. All I did was put the bike on the stand, take the derailleur off, put an adjustable spanner on the hanger and straighten it. Its been fine since. Disclaimer: My frame is aluminium.

Thanks- that’s what I ended up doing, very carefully. I know metal doesn’t typically like being bent and then rebent- unless designed for it. Seem to have gotten away with it but I’m sure another impact would be more likely to snap it now. Anyway, correct replacement is in the post.
