I am staying just out of Florence (30mins South), I have a car so could pick a bike up and take it to that accommodation for a few days, realistically I will use it once or twice max for an early morning explore of the local roads.

If anyone knows the area or has and tips on where to hire a bike and any possible routes it would be much appreciated.

I'm told by a friend who lives in Verona just to go into a second hand bike shop and make them an offer for something suitable, and put down the ticket price of the bike as a deposit.

If you pre-book one here it costs a fortune.

Sure you'll find a place, but enjoy and make an effort to make the most of the time you have there. Italy is great for cycling especially Tuscany

If you are willing to go to Lucca, there are a few hire places there. I hired a very nice Pinarello there a few years ago from Chrono Bikes. It was a decent bike and I’m a right bike snob. Not sure what is happening with their website, but hope this helps. Oh and bring your own pedals.

thats helpful! i've a friend coming over in september and wanted to hire a bike for him to save the faff of bringing his. The general rule here, as mentioned is any bike shop that sells second hand will hire the bike out, the only issue here, is our bike shop is tiny, so youre lucky to get the right size, let alone spec.......

you could contact https://www.probikefirenze.it/ and see what they can do for you? theyre a cervelo agent... they might hire a test bike?
