I am just planning a trip from Calais to Bruges and happy for any tips on the route but particularly about the path along the canal into Bruges, what's the surface like? I will not be on tyres for gravel!

TIA

Looks like a hard surface both sides all the way.

I did something similar a few years ago, as part of a group charity ride to Netherlands.

Here is our route - drop me a PM if you'd like the PGX.

Have fun!

Many thanks both. Garmin's popularity heat map suggests it's well used too.

Ferry at 7am tomorrow!

Apart from odd 200/300 yard bits of gravelly stuff, it's pretty much all smooth tarmac cycle paths. We ride there every year, back over in 4 weeks time. But we do Dover to Dunkirk on the bikes, much nicer route when you get the other side. Some quiet back roads up through to De Panne and on up to Niewport. Thereafter, it's lovely canal path tarmac all the way into Bruges city centre cobbles........ enjoy !!
