Disk Brake groan / squeal
Discussion
So my hard tail mtb developed noisy brakes front and rear!
So trouble I thought - I’d just done W2 in Afan so maybe glazed pads - so whipped them out and sanded then - this made no difference!
So next I cleaned the rotors with brake cleaner - no difference.
So I realigned and torqued every bolt - no difference
So I replaced the pads and the rotors for new ones - no difference
I then went to replace calliper seals but ended up replacing the entire calliper and pads (again) - no difference
Finally I cleaned the new rotors again - no difference
I have been riding the bike to bed things in when ever I make a change but I’m now out of ideas but it’s so loud and embarrassing! Before I admit defeat and take it to a shop what have I missed?

My front brake (shimano Ultegra) howled - tried everything without success, spent £300 on Hope Discs and Calipers and the bloody thing still did it.

Stop pulling the coward levers
Sounds like you’ve replaced a lot, which brakes and pads are they?
I try to keep off - but the bike doubles as local transport for my 3 year old so they do get used!! Sounds like you’ve replaced a lot, which brakes and pads are they?
They are admittedly basic shimano diore 2 piston - I replaced with mt-500 after hearing good things on the latest pinkbike reviews

I’ve got magura mt7’s with the mdrp performance Discs, best part of £500 and yep they squeal and groan so cost definitely has nothing to do with it. I find if I keep the pads sanded and keep on top of cleaning the discs it keeps it to a minimum. Also check wheel bearings for any movement as this can aggregate the issue.
