Hi, my full suss emtb does not seem to have any mounting points for any of the above. I'd like to be able to carry a camera in an easily accessible place where I can grab it and take a photo without dismounting. I have a bag that clips on to the handlebars, but it droops against the cables and rubs on the wheel when weighed down. I have a cross body bag and various backpacks too, but they are a bit of a faff. Any suggestions (that wouldn't cost a fortune)? Ta.

Would your frame take a top tube bag?

https://www.apidura.com/shop/racing-top-tube-pack/ has magnetic closing but there's a load of choice for similar bags from other brands

Hmm, it might, I'll look into it. As long as the bag does not slip sideways and dump the contents on the ground. eek Thanks for the reply.

I've only used the Apidura on-road so can't comment on MTBing. You might be better with a zipped one from another brand.

I’ve got a similar bag on my mountain bike.
It fixes to the headstock at the front, and the top tube at the back of the bag, which between them prevents it from slipping anywhere.

If you zoom in on the picture linked above you can see just see the front fitting.

Headstock fixing is a good idea. I need a bag that is big enough for my bridge camera, a Panasonic Lumix FZ 1000, and yet not get in the way of my knees. We shall see, thanks for the suggestions so far. smile

Just an extra thought - if the camera doesn't have much padding in the bag, is it going to get damaged from all the vibrations & hits coming through the frame? I also wonder if a bridge camera is too big, even for the big top tube bags.

Yes, I'd have to add extra padding to the bag, thus reducing the effective capacity. We shall see.

You can get some racks that clamp on to the headstock, but will be very dependent on the frame dimensions, they're intended for Dutch city bikes that generally have longer headstocks. eg https://steco.nl/en/product/headtube-front-carrier...

I've also seen baskets that hook over the bars and have a bracket that sits against the head tube but will obviously rub as you turn the bars.
