Bike cost per mile. What's yours?

Just going to add this up here.
Specialized Diverge E5
Purchase Price 3 years ago £850, reduced to £630, then £50 trade in for a knackered bike, so £580
Accessories Lights, bottles, cages etc £100
2 annual services £100 and £150, inclusive of parts
Total Cost £930
2 years of riding, 4800 miles
Cost per mile is 19.3 pence per mile
That would be even lower as I've not ridden it since the last service 11 months ago, due to a required knee operation. If i'd done another 2400 miles in the last 11 months that would be down to 12.9 pence per mile.

Looks like this might very a bit, and will probably depend on how long people have had their bike.
My 2 year old gravel bike cost £1300, probably spent £150 on servcing, god knows how much on kit etc, but will ignore that!

Thats going to drop every month though!
ETA: I have done over 1260 miles of commuting though, and if I had driven that in my car (at today's prices) would have cost me £278.46 in fuel alone!
I wonder if I will keep the bike long enough for it to be "free."

2018 Giant Contend SL - £999
Estimated maintenance - £500 (including wheel rebuild, services / replacement parts) - might be a little light
Total mileage (up to this morning) = 32,291kms =20,064 miles
So somewhere between 10p & 7.5 p per mile depending on how out my maintenance estimate is
2016 Whyte 905 £1,650
Est maint - £500 (similar to above looking at Strava and the 'My Gear' section)
Total mileage = 9,158kms = 5,690 miles
So 38p per mile.

250 quid Decathlon MTB. About 200 worth of bits (2 * tyres, front Derailleur,
bottom bracket + many inner tubes).
7850 miles in about 3.5 years. A whopping 5.7 p a mile. Bargain !
I couldn't possibly work it out as my bikes are often hybrids of previous ones. My current Scott which has done 6/7k has my groupset from a 2007 bike on it. It costs what it costs.
However, a number of years ago I used the not driving justification to purchase a Exposure light. I think it was circa £300 and I worked out that if it meant I commute 50 times over that winter more than I would normally, I would break even, and every other ride after that meant I was saving money. That was in 2013 and it's still perfect, so everytime I use it I'm saving money....

Good question. Bikes are not as cheap on a per mile basis as you might hope. Especially if you factor in all the kit!.
Mine cost me 1k 5 or so yrs ago. Mileage has varied between 1k and 2.5k per year. Rough estimate .ca 30p a mile tco. I do my own servicing too, but have upgraded many components along the way. It all adds up. Undoubtedly good value however. Driving doesn't keep you fit!

In 30 years I've not spent more than £500 on buying and maintaining 4 bikes, of which I currently own 2. One scrapped. One stolen, and not insured.
Problem is I have no idea how many miles I've done. Probably 5000. Which looks like 10p a mile. The thing is, I've probably got 2 bikes that will last another 30 years now, at the same rate.

I will admit to being at the bargain basement end of the market, but AFAIK anybike that costs more than £500 and you can't buy in Halfords is rarefied.

bike £2099 - but through c2w so cheaper
kit: £534 - includes a lot of one off buys for JOGLE that will be sold....hopefully as unused at it will be dry and nice weather
total: £2633
miles - komoot tells me it's 2439 but about 4 months spent trying other apps so lets say 3k miles
87p per mile - it's only 8 months old so lets check back in a year and see.
