Emtb's Where's all the stock?
Discussion
Hired an Emtb at the forest of Dean last week and I'm hooked, its exactly what I need to be able to utilise what little time I have out on the trails. I hired a Whyte E160s, was very impressed but it seems to be out of my budget by a grand unless I go used in which case E150 RS's seem to be coming in under budget but I'm not keen on buying used.
So, I've narrowed it down to a YT Decoy Core 2 or a Canyon Spectral/Torque:ON (one of the dual battery packages). Trying to find any of these in an XL is borderline possible, even if I did push for the Whyte still finding one in XL is nigh on impossible and nothing
What's going on with the bike manufacturers that they always since the first lock down seem to only have very limited stock?
I'm sold on either one of these models so guess I have no other option than to wait it out, quite frustrating though, like literally take my money I want to buy one of your products.......but I can't.
Anyone have any other suggestions? I like the Focus Jam and potentially the Cube |Stereo, but again finding sizing and spec for my budget seems difficult and I'd much prefer the YT/Canyon. Not a fan of Cannondale either.

Just have to wait, or leave a deposit with a supplier/shop. Supply of components and bikes trickle through slowly
Look at geometry figures and see how they compare against the bike you rode. People usually go by the reach figure although a radically steeper seat angle between one bike and another can make it feel more cramped despite a similar reach. Difficult to do if you're new to riding. I just bought a Transition Patrol to run alongside my 22 Levo, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted on the geo charts so just pulled the trigger and it rides just how I wanted it to
Took me a while to get hold of my Levo. Basically had an eye on websites for 6 months in 2021 and it wasn't until I really started badgering certini/concept stores and left a deposit that one eventually came through after a couple of months. I had to be very patient and I am a very impatient person
Still a bit thin on the ground now

Can you transfer the warranty on them? No idea, I'm used to specialized where you can, 4 years on my 2020 kenevo (with no motor issues in 2 years).
I wouldn't rule out a used bike if this is possible.
Edit. Yt's would scare me from new if it had a problem, I've heard of too many with poor experience.

I've got the Vitus E-Sommet VRS which I'd recommend to anyone from Wiggle/CRC. They got a lot of stick historically for the customer service but I have a feeling that they've really worked hard on that as they've been first class on any problems people have had and in the Vitus owner groups, they have reported a swift response. There is a known fault on the headset at the moment and CRC/Wiggle have come straight out and told owners that theyre looking to get a new design sorted with Nukeproof in the coming weeks. The battery cover had an issue of being a bit floppy and they have produced a new one and sent it out to everyone.
I know when I had a potential issue with the motor (never materialised in the end), I got onto the CS and they just told me to take it to my nearest Shimano service centre, and they would foot the bill if up to £200 without quibble and if over, to contact prior to going ahead with any works. I can't fault them.
If anyone has platinum discount, theyre available for a shade over £4000 at the moment. Really good value against some of the bigger brands.

I’ve had an order placed with my local lbs for a 2022 cube stereo hybrid 160 since last August. Still hasn’t arrived, in fact not one has landed in the UK yet. Delivery dates now pushed back till May at the earliest…..and I’m not confident that will transpire either!
Enquired about a new Scott patron eride - expected dates are currently end of July this year.
Best off just placing your pre-order for something you like and hoping for the best. Keep an eye out and setup email alerts to some bike shops you want to buy from in case they get any cancellations.

l I've set up a few email stock alerts. I also emailed YT about Decoy stock.....
Thanks for getting in touch.
With the current uncertainties around supply chains, we have made a decision to hold off publishing dates until we can be more sure of timescales.
If no timescale is given, the website should give you the option to notify you when we can give a date when the bike will be coming back into stock
issue I have currently is I'm bikeless and really keen (read impatient) to get something so I can get back out again.
I have found some stock of XL Nukeproof Megawatt that seems to get really good reviews. My only worry is that there seems to be a lot of issues surrounding the Shimano EP8 motor.

I appreciate you've chosen the bikes but any reason why you have gone for the Shimano motor?
I started at Motor choice then worked back from there to decide what bike (with my motor choice) suited me best.
I'd seriously consider the Bosch motor if you haven't already. That will open up your choices to a number of other makes and models that you might find have more availability.

I think the stock shortage for eBikes is going to get worse for a while. A lorry-load of Shimano motors and parts was nicked recently,

so thats 10,000-ish bikes that are delayed, which obviously pushes everything else back

Just most of the stuff i like within my budget £5k seems to have a shimano motor. In all honesty, I think I'd prefer something with the Bosch as this is what they Whyte e160s had that I hired for the day and really liked it, it's just down to budget more than anything else. If you have any good suggestions within budget I'd be more than happy to hear them

Look at Haibike, they use Bosch and Yamaha motors. If you have any good suggestions within budget I'd be more than happy to hear them
I paid £5200 for my XL Allmtn 5 and it came with Lyrik Ultimate, DT Swiss wheels etc.
They have sub £5k full sus options though.

Out of stock at the moment but they do come in and out of stock regularly. I bought a gen1 of these at £2700 but a general increase in price plus the biggre battery means its now £3500. The kit is pretty decent and you can then upgrade the shock and forks at a later date if you need to with the saving. If you have any good suggestions within budget I'd be more than happy to hear them

I setup a stock alert when I was looking for one and just had to be on the ball once I got the email. Didn't have to wait too long.
Good review here for the gen1 bike https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3iJlfGAxps&t=...
the reviewer also does a later video where he does a bunch of upgrades to show what the bike could be.
