Chap fell off outside our house today and injured himself, luckily nothing serious but ended his ride there and then.

Driving him home he mentioned that his route today was 300km, starting at 5am, “just need to finish by 2am” - then another one planned for Tuesday! Then rattled off a list of long rides, London to Scotland and back (few nights I assume) - LEJOG, Paris, Alps all seemingly a breeze..

I knew these groups existed but I didn’t expect them to do SO many miles in a week - any PH ‘hypermilers’ ? That’s probably further in a week than I drive in a month!

I haven't in a couple of years but have done a few, none of the super long events. Furthest I've ridden was the 600km Buzzard. In the same Audax season I completed a 2,3,4 & 600km event which gives you an award called a Super Randonneur.

Audaxing is an amazing way to get to explore the UK and beyond on a bike. The organised events give you routes that take in some great cycling roads and lanes and the community in the main is super friendly and helpful.

Currently on a break from longer distance cycling, focussing on ultra running. But have unfinished business as very keen to do the Transcontinental as a pair with my best friend.

Done Raid Pyrenees a few years ago, Atlantic to the Med, in 5 days so nothing too extreme, a bit of climbing mind, most in one day was 450km and 10,000m of climbing.

There’s plenty of Audax/Ultra riders in here. Longest I did was London-Edinburgh-London in 2017, 1400km in four days. I’ve signed up to this years event too.

Longest ride in 24 hours was 400km (250 miles).
