Which rear derailleur do you have? I think it used to be possible to use 10sp derailleurs with 11sp and vice-versa but they stopped it. Regardless, you can mix and match components, and so if you are getting a new Di2 RD it will work fine with whatever components you currently have.
Thanks. I am replacing the entire groupset so i don't anticipate any issues. i even plan to replace the wiring and battery as my issue with the existing setup is battery drain which is probably caused by the front or rear mech but possibly the battery or a short in the wiring. I was just wondering if there are any specific set up things i should check switching between the 2.Lovey1 said:
Now thats a good question and exactly the reason i asked the question....thanks!
Shimano road freehubs are either 8/9/10 or 10/11/12. Any recentish wheel set with have an 11 speed freehub, running a spacer if you have a 10 speed cassette on. 12 speeds fit on the 11 speed hubs (if anyone really had one yet)

Just for information, an 11spd MTB cassette will fit a 10spd freehub body as it is narrower, 11spd road cassette will need an 11spd freehub.
Apparently 11sp cassettes do fit on *some* 10sp freehubs, but it's luck of the draw, it depends how deep the grooves go towards the wheel. I have an old Hope Open Pro wheel and the grooves were too short, but some people have machined a few more mm on that model and run 11sp on them.Edited by Gareth79 on Monday 31st January 22:27

If it is a Hope hub you may be able to replace the freehub.Edited by Gareth79 on Monday 31st January 22:27
