Brompton T Line
Discussion
Looks like the 500 were just an initial batch especially if they have really created a new factory.

Love the concept but using one as a commute tool then the steel is well proven if heavy. A lot of the weight saving away from the frame only time will tell how reliable the components are. The seat post for example with it's extra ring of steel around the carbon.

Some are saying they outsourced the frame manufacture to company in Sheffield others are saying they purchased the company, I would guess it will be cheaper to manufacture the titanium triangles and forks in the UK as well, I believe they are making them in Taiwan at the moment.https://www.brompton.com/tline?xnpe_tifc=hfb7hFsL4...

A titanium Brompton to me seems a little pointless, P line would be as good an option.
As you said the steel bike will be more durable, these are destined never to be ridden and the majority will end in up in collections overseas.

I entered the ballot & ‘won’ the chance to buy a single speed titanium.Complete madness, £8k for a Brompton
Not bothered as I prefer my Raw Lacquer , even it weighs a water bottle more!
I guess I could have flipped it for a profit, minus fees & exposure to scammers
Ignored this time as out of current cyclescheme range also
James Houston last week completed the Transcontinental on a Brompton, so they must be durable https://www.instagram.com/jim_london/ I don't know if the gearing suits mega-climbs. Reportedly he had major tyre issues when the rims/ inner tubes overheated on the Alpine descents - is there a disc version yet? Maybe the fold-up status helps with defending against the many pack of wild dogs?

Nice! I’ve got a P-Line too.I am finding the 4-speed gearing to have a poor range compared to my previous 6-speed. It’s not quite low enough at the bottom end for steeper hills and I’m spinning out the top gear much too easily on downhill inclines.
What do you think?

This will sound crazy but I haven’t had time to ride it properly. My routes are flat London cycle lanes though. I am finding the 4-speed gearing to have a poor range compared to my previous 6-speed. Yeah your right, for steep hills it’s hard work lol. Been riding flats mostly but today came upon a very steep hill and felt the burn. Glad I didn’t try to acquire a t line, this one is light enough to carry in shops and picks up speed nicely. I am finding the 4-speed gearing to have a poor range compared to my previous 6-speed. I’ve had my P-Line for quite a few months now and I really like it - but ideally it needs a wider gear range.
I did ride a T-Line this week. I took my bike in for its first service to Brompton Junction London and I asked for a ride on their demo T-Line. It’s amazingly light and that is obviously very noticeable when carrying it, but of course also when cycling uphill and accelerating. It’s certainly quicker than the P-Line - but not to the degree that makes it worth the substantial extra cost.

I wish there was more of a community for Brompton riders to organise weekend rides and events.
Not sure where you live but there is a massive group on Facebook called London Brompton Club. There are lots of rides organised, not all in London but most are. There are rides organised to the coast for instance. Join the group and see what you can find.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
