I need to replace the knackered forks on an old Specialized hardtail from the early 2000's.

It's well before tapered headsets but can anyone confirm what steerer tube size I need? I think it will be 1 1/8?

Secondly can anyone recommend a decent 26" fork with 80-100mm travel for less than £100?

Thanks

decent for less than £100 may be an issue although there are quite a lot of unbranded ones on Ebay etc

Disc or v-brake?

9mm QR I assume?

R.e steerer diameter, may I suggest measuring the steerer on the old forks for the definitive answer tongue out

Thanks all

I've gone for a set of SR Suntour XCM. They're budget forks but will suit the bike and what it's used for.
