I'm looking for a new set of elbow and knee pads.

Riding at Cannock yesterday and I took a tumble with unprotected elbows. It hurt hehe

I have an old pair of Sixsixone knee pads which are frankly a little too bulky most of the time, so I'd like something that offers good protection while being lightweight. What can you recommend?

Cant really help with the elbow pads, but I found knee pads come down to personal preference of protection & comfort, If you can get down your LBS and see what they have and try a few different ones for comfit/fit.

I personally use Troy lee Designs knee/shin guards and I can't fault them, I've got the older 5400 kit but I find them very comfortable and don't notice I have them on. They have a good amount of padding and still going strong after 3 years, saved my knees a few times. Think new equivalent is their Speed range.

I use IXS carve knee pads as they have upper and lower straps which my original fox ones did not have amd slipped down. The ixs don't. And are generally quite comfy, and not too bulky. Some knee pads look like you have a tortoise shell on your knees.

I wear troy lee speed elbow pads, Have about 2 crashes a year where I end up with scarring down my forearms so it's mainly to prevent scarring, they won't protect against breakages as there's minimal padding. Barely notice them when riding, don't get too hot etc.

Race Face Indy elbow pads, and Race Face Flank or Ambush Knee Pads - both excellent and not too bulky. The flank pad also has a shin pad to protect you from pedal strikes

I can recommend the G-Form knee pads, lightweight and I found them to fit really well, they never dropped. If you go through Sportspursuit they are normally half price.

I've always found POC VPD elbow & knee pads do the trick but not everyone likes their snugness.

I use G-Form Elite. Nice lightweight and comfortable. Elbows in particular you really don't notice after a minute or so. The knee pads need to be positioned so that there is no pressure points but once done are also very good.

I'd say D30, I've had a few D30 ones now. But the ultimate are the Race Face Ambush, simply because they do up round your leg, rather than having to pull them on, so no need to take shoes off to pad up!

I've got both. Love the knee pads but the elbow pads never stay put for me!

Just to follow up on this, I ended up buying G-Form Pro Rugged knee and elbow pads and I'm thoroughly impressed by the level of comfort after 9 hours out on the bike.

Highly recommended.

Thank you for the recommendations.
