So I've got the frame, forks, headset and BB sat idle.

I've also just upgraded my (36T cassette) 10spd XT groupset to 11spd 42T SLX/XT.

So I've got the old 36T XT and XT crankset (narrow wide 30T), its cosmetically worn...

When the narrow wide wears out I can run a 36T front

With flatbars that I also have spare, a Cannondale road stem and old seat post/saddle it should all work as a winter commuter shouldn't it?

Gearing may be off for the flats but it keeps my posh bike clean.

If you've got wheels, yep, it should all work.

Fun little project too.

Wheels I'd have to swap between as I don't have 142x12, 100x12 ones spare. Only the old school!

Swapping cassettes isn't a big issue
