Just put of interest really.
Due to a house move my commute has gone from 1.5 miles each way to 6.9 miles.

We were looking at houses even further away, but to be honest I don't think I could commute daily much further.

Takes me under 23 mins to get to work and just over 30 to get home. (16 sets of traffic lights are a killer). My colleagues only just pass me around 5 mins from my house, which kinda proves driving it is pointless and should be kept for the weekend when I can dig the rx7 out.

I do intend to ride everyday, bar during snow or the odd 12.5 hour nightshift.

I used to do 10.5 miles each way, 3/4 times a week. Took 40 mins each way into Southampton. New job is 16 miles each way, but I now do 12hr shifts so very rare I cycle. I do miss it.

I commute about 6 miles each way. Its done on a light mountain bike and Im 43 and ride the commute everyday. I try not to go in the car unless weather is really terrible.

I dont have to go through any traffic lights though and its mostly off road with only a 1.5 on roads/tarmac. It only takes about 27 mins but its a pretty flat route. Just take it nice and steady and dont go too hard on yourself. You can always take a rest day if you needed it.

6 and 9 miles depending if I take the easy route filled with traffic & lights or more often the longer one to get a 'proper' exercise in.

It doesn't feel a challenge either way (both flat). But can be made into one, so times vary massively. I'm doing it a lot more than the 13 miler with hills at the start from old place in South London - easier to force myself onto the bike in the mornings.

When I regularly commuted to the office, I'd go by bike most days. It was six and a half miles each way, mostly along tarmac cycle path, and mostly flat.

I enjoyed the ride itself, but the hassle bringing all the clothes, towels etc, showering at work did frustrate me.

Mine was nine miles each way, and the gradient was basically this /\ so it was always up hill for the first half.
Would do two days a week for about 8 months of the year.

Current commute would be 3 miles if I was in the office and it wasn’t really worth the effort of getting change for such a short ride.

I currently cycle in once a week, but am going to try to move it up to twice a week. My cycle commute is 52km each way (so 32.3 miles) and about 450m of elevation each way. It takes me about and hour 50 to get there (on a quick day) and a little over 2 hours to get back.

It’s quite a commitment and needs some organising with brining change of clothes etc the day before, but it’s essentially a free 100km bike ride day that I don’t have to get past the wife hehe

For me it was only 6km each way, but with a reasonable climb on the way home to make it vaguely worthwhile. I did it every day, rain or shine.

We're now out of the building as it's been found to have a few seismic structure deficiencies, so I'm having to make up for the missing commute with a short run or ride every morning.

Previous job in London had about 30mins (15 mins before & after the train) - as it meant I didn't pay for either car parking or the tube it happened whatever the weather.

The horizontal rain/sleet was probably the worst smile

It also kept me sane during a spectacularly crappy period inflicted by a monumental bellend of a boss smile

c13 miles each way, choice of 90% off road, mix of canal towpath and forest tracks, or roads with 5 traffic lights and 6 round abouts..
Used to do 2 days a week when i was in the office fulltime (drive or train the rest), but would drive if rain, ice or otherwise subzero .

Currently doing the above once every few weeks when i go in, otherwise working from home and doing a 20-25 odd miles loop in the morning before work to get some exercise in before the day begins.

However I did have the benefit of rural enough its possible to do offload, but not so rural that there is only one road route where all the traffic ends up (hants/surrey border) .

Used to be 9 miles each way and used to do it every day other than if it was icy.

Now mainly WFH so do 16-20 miles each day in the morning or at lunch to keep up the phys.

I used to do 7 miles each way, split shifts so 4 trips daily.

Much easier on a (Bosch) e-bike.

I don't commute by bike as I don't want to mix with the types of drivers who have to be somewhere now and didn't leave sufficient time for it. It's bad enough on quiet roads on the weekend. I'd love to go to work by bike if there were dedicated bike roads (not painted lines of the roads and not narrow bike paths that run along side roads but have to yield to everything when cars don't have to, proper roads designed for bikes that actually go to places like roads do).

2 miles each way, it's that annoying distance where it's only just enough to get sweaty and not far enough for all the lycra.

I converted my bike to a e-bike, when my distance increased, I no longer need to faff about with a change of clothes / getting sweaty apart from when it's roasting outside.

17.5 miles each way for me. As above I've got an ebike to help out. It's about 1hr5mins each way so not too bad and still better than driving most days as the city traffic can make the commute well over an hour if its particularly bad.

Same for me, 4 miles (c. 15 mins). I bought a Dutch bike especially for the commute, use flat pedal/etc. Now I use that bike to nip into town/down to the pub, etc so glad I got it.

20 miles each way for me

Started e-biking about 2-3 times a week back in April, managed 17mph or so at the time, bike is a derestricted Canyon Roadlite on.

Pb is now 21.6mph on that, and 18.1mph on my normal bike

All on roads, about 800ft climb each way, half back roads, half busier A road

Lost nearly 2 stone too, one of the best things I’ve ever done

Mine is 14mls there and back Mon to Fri. Did it for several years unassisted now do it assisted on a Bosch equipped Tern HSD. I still feel like I am getting a good workout. But I really enjoy the journey now taking in more sights & sounds.

24 miles each way for me.

I'm lucky that most is rural roads and my office is on a business park on the edge of Peterborough so very little traffic to contend with.

It takes too much time out of my day to do it there and back on the same day so I'll drive in, leave next day's clothes and shower kit at work and then ride home. Next morning ride back to office smile

Been WFH since March 2020 so not done it for ages though!
