My little boy has a Carrera Cosmo that's stripped the rear sprocket, now knackered more so as I cut it off with a grinder however I'm now struggling to find a replacement.

It's a 14 tooth single sprocket, 30mm internal diameter screw on to hub and it's 19mm wide overall and my local Halfords and bike shops have drawn a blank.

eBay etc have a few listed but the descriptions are a bit vague, not listing the internal diameters or are a bit involved, stating 1/8th chain sizes and the like so I'm not sure what exactly to order? They also range from about £6 to £30+ which has also muddied matters.

Is it actually that complex or is it a case of a 14T screw on sprocket is about as complex as it needs to be?

That sounds like an absolutely bog standard BMX freewheel/sprocket.

'Should' to my knowledge be a common standard thread/diameter/etc. The range of prices will be because BMX boys and girls can get punchy for nice kit!

Thanks, that was my thinking but muddied by Halfords providing one with a 34mm diameter mount, one bike shop saying only Shimano do one special order at £30+ and another asking the measurements between the front face and the actual sprocket and the thread pitch... leaving me thinking "Really?"

I'll take a chance on a cheapy eBay special and hope it fits.

Cheers

There's the official variations.

The larger thread diameter to my knowledge is only for multispeed freewheels, which are now pretty bloody unusual as it's now built into the hub as the norm.

As I thought - looks like it's just a regular BMX freewheel.

Thanks, though I'm still struggling to find a 30mm diameter thread, all this far have been listed as 34mm...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222419035545

I can only find I one listing that doesn't state 34mm but equally, it doesn't state 30mm either.

This is the only one I can find that specifically states 14T and 30mm...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201526626777

Import from the USA... surely not!

This one "looks" the best match but again, no mention of the hub thread diameter and from what I can tell, 30mm or 34mm are possible and the latter seem more common.

Here you go - you want the RHD version.

One tooth difference won't be noticed.

Just to bring some closure for the rare possibility that somebody has similar issues and Google brought them here, have since ordered and fitted this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164985440246

Doesn't list it as a 30mm diameter thread but some Googling and confirmation by the thoroughly decent seller confirmed it was and it's now fitted.

Appreciate the input.
