Hi

So I am still in the market for a mountain bike (its taking a while with all the supply issues etc)

I live near some decent trails (examples here https://www.wikiloc.com/trails/mountain-biking/spa...

I was waiting for the Stoic 2 to come into stock (https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/mountain-bikes/trail-bikes/stoic/stoic-2/2659.html)

But then I saw a new bike from Decathlon (https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/all-mountain-bike-am-hardtail/_/R-p-331946?mc=8641876)

In Spain they are the same price (899 euros) and they look similar. Although I would need to factor in shiping for the Stoic so that makes it overall slightly more expensive

The Rock Rider has a slightly better fork (?) but with less travel
The Rock Rider has a slightly wider gear range
The Rock Rider has a dropper post

But the Stoic is

Better wheels and tyres
better build quality (?)
more "upgradable"

Is this a case of the better parts dont mean a better overall bike? Is the Stoic worth waiting for?

Which would be better for a beginner but taking into account the types of trails near me?

Thanks

Stoic everytime for me. Neil Donoghue on GMBN uses one and seems to love it.
