Having ridden to work every day for the last 7 years, I am moving a bit further away from work and have best intentions to continue riding.

Current commute is 1.5miles each way. New commute will be closer to 7 miles each way, right across town.

Clearly this raises the chance of an 'incident' occurring.

This has got me thinking about 3rd party liability insurance, are there any products people recommend, I see there are products from British cycling and wiggle. I am guessing in the event of a non fault incident I could use the legal assistance to claim from the other party? Has anyone got any experience of making a claim? Worth noting I don't need to insure my bike for theft as I work on a secure site and it's a POS.

Any advice? smile

I have BC membership for the 3rd party liability insurance (included with silver and gold memberships? Can’t recall right now).

I have used their legal cover, a couple of years ago when someone doored me. The legal firm they keep on retainer (Leigh Day) were excellent.

Do they do personal injury insurance too ?
Break some bones in an accident, you won’t be cycling to work for a bit !

British Cycling is probably the best because it includes the legal assistance, but another option is Laka at £1/month: https://laka.co/gb/club
